Australian Ramrod Trilogy

from Ends 'n' Odds by Tom Smith

/

about

This was written for and about a dear old friend, Mitchell Burnside Clapp, who used to be much more active in filk. He spent a lot of time in Australia, which gave him an accent that got him SO many girls -- but he MARRIED T. J. Burnside, which would of made all of us guys insanely jealous were they not so cute together.

Musically, he's as smooth as good whiskey. He did his own version (4/4 instead of 3/4) of Eric Bogle's "I Don't Do Dylan" and also covered several other Bogle songs. His original stuff was really good as well, and he won the Pegasus Award in 1990 for Best Performer, and again in 2007 for Best Classic Filk Song, "Falling Down On New Jersey". I don't get together with him much, and I should make a point of doing so more often.
