You're A Mean One, Mister Grinch

from Holy Crap, A New Album by Tom Smith

about

I've wanted to do this for years. It's one of my all-time favorite songs. The biggest debate was arrangement, and that may get tweaked, but I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. The second biggest debate was whether to do the first verse like Thurl Ravenscroft. I decided not to, but you tell me -- should I throw in an extra version with that?

Oh, and, I made two lyrical "tweaks" -- I put the "Stink, Stank, STUNK" verse at the end, and I swapped the last lines of the two verses that don't rhyme internally so that they do. Surprisingly, Thurl recorded a version for an album that got those verses right. Dunno why they didn't do that in the cartoon. Ah well.
